Guayaquil | Ecuador | South America
A bold and avant-garde gesture that points to the future by evoking the past.
The project is located in the architectural footprint of one of the city's old shipyards, and within its industrial district.
HISTORICAL SHIPYARD EXHIBITION
Spaces where both the exhibition material and the structure of the building where they are housed speak about the city's naval history.
Next to the museum, a ship-inspired structure provides shelter for an open space where stand fairs and events are held.
A SHIPYARD TRIBUTE TO 'EL ASTILLERO'
The museum is defined by its structure. Two interconnected sequences of curved parametric frames evoke the interior structure of a boat, defining the spaces for circulation and programming. It is, in essence, a tribute to the shipbuilding business; a market that defined the city of Guayaquil for much of its history.
